Preparing Your Coinbase Pro Taxes

Summ has integrated Coinbase Pro into our platform to help users easily calculate their cryptocurrency tax obligations. Users can upload via a CSV import or API Key by following the instructions in this guide.

Summ
This tax guide is regularly updated: Last Update September 22, 2021

Summ allows you to calculate your taxes arising from any trading activity on Coinbase Pro. All you have to do is import your trading data via CSV, and we will automatically normalize these transactions back to your local currency. You can then easily calculate your financial year's short and long-term gains using various in-app inventory methods.

Import via API Keys

As of June 6, 2024, Coinbase Pro has deprecated its API, which means users can no longer sync transactions via API. If you have previously imported transactions using the Coinbase Pro API in Summ, you may see a "Sync failed" message when attempting to resync. To learn more about this, please visit our help article.

To continue importing your transactions to Crypto Tax Calcualtor, you will need to use the CSV method instead.

Import via CSV file

You are still able to generate CSV files for Coinbase pro transactions. To do so: Log in to your Coinbase account.

  1. Click on the profile icon in the top right corner.
  2. Select 'Reports' from the dropdown menu .
  3. Select 'View Statements' in the 'Coinbase Pro Statements' section.
  4. Leave the Portfolio, Account Type, and Date drop downs as their respective 'All' settings.
  5. Select 'Account' for Report Type, select CSV, and then click 'Generate' to download the 'account.csv' file
  6. Select 'Fills' for Report Type, select CSV, and click Generate to download the 'fills.csv' file
  7. Upload both of these CSV files into Summ
